Good Friday - And Downtown Oakville Was HOPPING
It was a relatively balmy  9 celsiusin Oakville yesterday. The sun was shining bright so it was a great opportunity for my friend an I to take our dogs for a walk downtown and by the Lake.

It seems we weren't the only ones who had the same idea.  Lakeshore Road was full of people, dogs, strollers, cars, bicycles and motorcycles.  People were feeding the ducks and geese at the harbour.  My dog just loves to eat and roll in their droppings.

A young couple was enjoying a picnic lunch on the rocks overlooking the lake.  Still a little chilly by my standards for picnics, but they were having fun.  I think everyone was just happy to get out and get a small taste of spring like weather.

There will be a few that aren't happy though, as I saw a parking officer putting tickets on cars along a side street.  So much for Good Friday being a holiday. Coffee shops, restaurants, bakeries, florists and Chocolate shops were open and busy.

A couple of cafes even had their patios set up.  Everywhere you looked adults had coffees and kids had ice cream in their hands.  A couple of shops even had water dishes outside for the dogs.

A good sized crowd of people  were sitting around Towne Square.  The only thing missing was live music or a busker or two. Kingston has an amazing Busker Festival every year.  Might be an idea for Oakville.  We do boast our own community celebrations though.  Midnight Madness is still going strong.  The Jazz Festival and the Waterfront Festival draw thousands to our fabulous town.  Our downtown has come a long way from when I was young.  Back then you could roll a bowling ball through the main street and it wouldn't hit a thing.

Now we have a vibrant downtown area with great restaurants and boutique shopping.  How could I not love my job when I get to sell homes in such a beautiful lakeside town that I am so proud to call home.
