Weekend Observations In Oakville
Yes, spring is around the corner. It actually arrives in one week. It has been a long, cold winter and we are all ready to turn the corner. Judging from my observations being out and about in Oakville this weekend, it looks like a great many have been suffering from cabin fever.
Although the temperature barely cracked 8 degrees C. this weekend, it didn't stop some from taking out the convertible with the top down. I passed one, and then passed a woman walking with her ski coat and mittens on. Today downtown Oakville was humming with people and their kids and pets. Lakeshore Road was full of activity, the coffee shops were packed, and the restaurants beckoned.
The lakefront and the pier were packed with baby strollers, and people strolling. I saw many shiny motorcycles and the old coupes came out of their garages and were found parked at various Tim Hortons around town. I was doing an open house in Southwest Oakville and had about a dozen couples through. I hope this is a good sign that the spring real estate market is fast approaching.
Today was also a great day to take down those Christmas lights and clean up branches from all those windy days we have had. If the weather channel is right we can look forward to even warmer days this week. For those of us spending March Break at home in Oakville, that is great news!
